We would like to have all names submitted by September 7, so we can coordinate a date to hold the workshop prior to the start of the league.

Contact the Hockey Brandon Office at 726-3550 or hockeybrandon@mts.net for more info.

Midget AAA City program was not able to secure a qualified coach.  Therefore, there will be no team for the 2010-11 season.  The council regrets having to make this decision, however Winnipeg Minor have advised that they will welcome us back next season.

URGENT

Memo

To:        All coaches, managers, team officials,

            Brandon Referee Development Committee

From:    Hockey Brandon Board of Directors, Hockey Manitoba Director

Date:     10/20/2009

Re:        H1N1

With the recent fears of an H1N1 pandemic, Hockey Brandon, along with many associations are taking measures to protect their participants.

Effective October 19, 2009 and until further notice the following guidelines must be followed:

Post game handshakes will no longer take place. In place of this ritual, players will now go through the traditional handshake line-up prior to the start of the game. However in lieu of the traditional handshake players will do a waist-high ‘gloves-on fist bump’ as a show of respect and sportsmanship

Referees will no longer do the pre-game handshake with the coaching staff, however the practice of greeting               and speaking with each should continue. We would ask the referees to remind teams of the new procedure until it becomes common place.

Coaches will instruct all players to bring their own water bottles and advise that they are not to share bottles with anyone.

Teams should also encourage players to keep hand sanitizer in their bags and at very least it should be kept by the team and be readily available to all team members.

All players, coaches, team officials and referees should be strongly encouraged to remain at home if they are ill.

Coaches are asked to advise their players on proper cough/sneeze safeguards to aid in this preventative initiative.

We thank-you in advance for your anticipated co-operation in dealing with the deadly potential of the H1N1 virus and we fully anticipate 100% co-operation in this initiative.

Any teams interested in some dry land training and fun at the same time?  Why not play against the Special Olympics Floor Hockey team.  We play every Monday night from 7:30 – 8:30.

This would be best for bantam and midget as this team is an adult team.

For more information please call Tracy Williams at 724-2208
